What Does H3OHM Mean?

The Science and Symbolism Behind Our Name

Look closely at H3OHM, and you’ll find a conversation taking place inside the name.

There is a reference to the chemistry of water. An echo of electrical resistance. A sound associated with contemplation and the sacred. And, within the O of our logo, a small gold point.

Together, these elements introduce the inquiry at the heart of our work: How do biology, consciousness and lived experience connect?

Our name holds that question. Our guiding phrase gives it direction:

The Science of Human Coherence.

H₃O⁺: It begins with water

The H3O in H3OHM points to hydronium, written chemically as H₃O⁺.

Most of us recognize H₂O as water. When a water molecule accepts a hydrogen ion, commonly called a proton, it becomes the positively charged hydronium ion. That small superscript plus matters: it tells us we are looking at an ion with a net positive charge.[1]

This is the chemistry behind the first part of our name. H3OHM itself is a brand name, not a molecular formula.

Why begin here?

Because we are interested in the details that are easy to overlook. Water is so familiar that we can stop being curious about it. The same can happen with our bodies. We live within them every day, yet much of what sustains us takes place beyond ordinary awareness.

Hydronium brings our attention to that intimate scale of existence, where an exchange too small to see changes the chemical identity of what is present.

For H3OHM, it represents an invitation to look more closely. To ask better questions about water, charge and the conditions in which biological processes take place.

Sometimes wonder begins with something as small as a plus sign.

OHM: An electrical meaning and a sacred echo

The second part of our name carries two distinct associations.

In physics, the ohm, represented by Ω, is the SI unit of electrical resistance. It belongs to the precise language used to describe electrical systems.[2]

In H3OHM, this reference points toward our interest in the electrical dimensions of living systems. It also reminds us that words such as energy and resistance have specific scientific meanings that deserve careful attention.

But say “ohm” aloud, and another association emerges: Om, also written as Aum.

Om is a sacred syllable deeply rooted in Hindu tradition and used in chanting and meditation. Its significance reaches beyond a pleasant sound or a contemporary wellness practice; it belongs to a rich spiritual and philosophical heritage.[3]

We bring these associations together with respect for their differences. An electrical unit and a sacred syllable are not the same thing. Their resemblance is a poetic connection within our name.

That connection matters to us because human beings encounter life in more than one way.

We measure. We observe. We also feel, contemplate and search for meaning.

H3OHM makes room for those experiences to enter into conversation.

The gold point within the O

The O is where the two parts of our name meet: H3O and OHM share the same letter.

In our logo, that shared space holds a gold point.

For us, the point symbolizes creation and the zero point. Here, “zero point” is symbolic language: an origin, a still center, a place from which possibility can unfold.

It is also a reminder to pause before assuming we already understand.

There is a particular kind of openness in that pause. We can notice what we have overlooked. We can allow an observation to challenge a familiar explanation. We can return to a question without needing to defend the answer we gave yesterday.

The gold point gives that posture a visible form.

A still center. A place to begin.

What we mean by human coherence

Our guiding phrase, The Science of Human Coherence, brings the name’s different elements into a shared direction.

In our broader use of the word, coherence means that parts relate in ways that support a functioning whole. It does not require every part to become identical.

An ensemble makes music because its instruments contribute different voices while responding to one another. That is a useful metaphor for the kind of coherence we want to explore: relationship that preserves difference.

Applied to human experience, this becomes a practical inquiry.

How closely do our actions reflect what we value? Can we pay attention to our bodies without treating every sensation as a problem to control? Can we remain connected to others without abandoning our own discernment?

This does not make coherence a demand for constant calm, perfect health or permanent agreement. Grief, uncertainty and disagreement belong to human life. A meaningful understanding of coherence must have room for them.

Nor are we using the phrase as though one measurement could capture the whole of a person. Our broader philosophical use of coherence should not be confused with any single physiological measurement.

It is a direction for inquiry, not a score of someone’s worth or wellness.

Keeping wonder and rigor in conversation

The word science in our guiding phrase carries a responsibility.

A compelling story is not enough to establish a biological mechanism. A meaningful personal experience can inspire a research question without answering it. And a beautiful symbol can express something important without becoming scientific evidence.

We want those distinctions to strengthen the conversation.

Scientific inquiry asks us to examine evidence, consider alternative explanations and revise our understanding when the findings call for it. Contemplative inquiry asks us to pay close attention to experience and to the assumptions through which we interpret it.

These approaches have different methods and limits. We are interested in what can emerge when they are brought into thoughtful dialogue.

Our aim is to cultivate curiosity that can withstand scrutiny, and rigor that remains open to discovery.

An invitation inside the name

H3OHM begins with a reference to water and opens into questions about what it means to be human.

Hydronium anchors part of the name in chemistry. Ohm brings an electrical reference. The echo of Om invites contemplation. The gold point expresses our sense of creation and possibility.

You do not need to arrive with a scientific background or a particular spiritual belief to enter this conversation.

Bring your questions. Bring your discernment. Bring the experiences that have made you wonder whether there is more to understand.

That is where we begin.

H3OHM. The Science of Human Coherence.
